Meeting and Event Schedule
The Heritage Commission meets on a bi-monthly basis. Unless a field trip is planned all meetings are held at the Doctor's House. Meetings start at 7:00 pm. Everyone, members and non-members alike, is invited to attend. Use the schedule below to mark your calendar.
- Fourth Thursday of January (This is typically planned for officers and board members only due to the potential for inclement weather.)
- Fourth Thursday of March
- Fourth Thursday of May
- Fourth Thursday of July
- Fourth Thursday of September
- Third Thursday of November (Bring a covered dish for a pot luck Thanksgiving meal.)
Each year the Heritage Commission also hosts several annual events. These are:
- Trash & Treasures (TM) -- A community-wide yard sale on the last weekend (Friday-Saturday) of June.
- Kilgore Remembrance -- Every July 4 at 9:00 at the Kilgore-Villines Cemetery.
- Fall Barbecue Supper -- Usually the second weekend of September. A fund raiser for the Heritage Commission.
- Christmas Tour of Homes -- Every first Sunday of December. See local homes decorated for Christmas. A fund raiser for the Covington Scholarship.
